Just saw one on the auction site and was wondering how many were made? I noticed it had no markings other than cab number and thought it would make an easy repaint.

Don't know, I suspect not many in the grand scheme of things. As I recall they were available only as AC w/sound (whistle,bell, and some sort of air compressor chuff.)
I suspect the TCA was able to take advantage of AM's stock of undecorated Pacifics and they were Decorated To Order.
