I kind of did this mornings trip as a dedication to another member of the OGR Forums Family, "Big Jim".

Jim will be in the right hand seat of this trip returning from Shenandoah this afternoon and it will be his final trip as an engineer for Norfolk Southern after more than 40 years with N&W & Norfolk Southern.

Personally, I haven't know Big Jim all that long, but he's been extremely helpful to me in and around the Roanoke area when it came to keeping up to date about current events as they relate to NS operations.

I find it a bit emotional knowing he's stepping down, but I know he's got many great years ahead for himself with whatever he chooses to do.

I can only imagine how he's personally handling his last day in the right hand seat!

Jim, my personal best to you always and thank you so much for all your help !!!

Thanks, Bob. Too bad you couldn't have been there in the evening to watch the lighted train go around that curve.

It was a very special trip. My wife, two of my sons and two of my grandchildren were on board. A couple of friends of mine from England and the former Road Foreman of Engines that qualified me into engine service were along for the ride too.

Forty years with N&W/NS...it's been a good run.
