I have a second generation Legacy GG-1 (2016) and am considering getting another one from the latest catalogue.  However, in reading the first page of the GG-1 section it is written: "We've also improved the gearboxes and pantograph features..."

Are they talking about the gearboxes in the main motors or the motors for the pantographs?  If they are speaking about an improvement in the motor, would this have an impact with a lash-up of an older Legacy GG-1?

Legacy has 200 speed steps and the speed of the steps would be the same accross the board and from year to year.

And they've gone to considerable lengths to make that so.  The exception is the few models based on the back-EMF board, those will not lash-up with the standard electronics.  Any of the models that use the Odyssey 2 toothed wheel encoder should run together.
