I am so happy to see this hudson performing so flawlessly, that’s a great video, simply looking like the king of the road. If Harmonyards has a few pictures of the the engine and tender, showing the deck plate, more pictures of the headlight, the engineers, curtain, the side rods, it would be cool. This K-Line Hudson is going to have a great home, it’s been a truly fantastic journey. Thank you Pat, The Harmon Shops makes dreams come true. Happy Railroading Everyone

Engineer Joe, I just watched your video and noticed you are probably modeling 2 rail scale, that’s a nice layout, good sounding steamer, and nice inter-modal train running on your train tablework. I have only seen one 2 rail scale layout in person, the late Louis Ertz’s fabulous home layout in his beautiful home In Memphis Tennessee. I visited Louis many times and actually told OGR about this unbelievable scale model railroading perfectionist and they did a great video of this truly magnificent model railroad. It’s OGR The Video #5. You should listen to the late JIM Barrett’s thoughts.

And now back to Harmonyards, Pats re-modeling (a total upgrade) of my K-Line NYC J1e Hudson, which, even though 3 rail, is a great running, super sounding, top shop, running Steamer. I’ve watched both of his videos many times and I am very happy. This steamer sounds great, runs so smoothly, and pulls those heavyweight passenger cars so effortlessly. It’s simply amazing. Thanks to everyone that had anything to do with this fantastic project. I’m grateful. Happy Railroading Everyone

Wow, now that I’ve seen this you-tube video, you must see the OGR video Rich Melvin produced, it’s so amazing. Engineer Joe, thank you for posting this memory of Louis Ertz’s railroad here, it’s all about the fun of the hobby of model railroading. OGR The Video #5, it’s fantastic. One day, there should be a video of Harmonyards facilities, a truly nice three rail scale fun to run railroad. Pat, this has been a great thread, thanks again for allowing the OGR Forum folks to see what can be done to make our trains run so much better. HAPPY RAILROADING and Happy Valentines Day to all.

Larry, I’m very pleased with the final product, ...did you spot the deck plate?....that’s all hand made, and hinges up & down. I can’t take full credit for this idea, I’ve learned this technique from master builder Pete ( Norton ) in fact, he sent me a pack of the hinge tubing a good whole back,....that’s all his ideas, I just applied the install, .....neat stuff,...

Pat

Yes sir, I love the deck plate very much, and while writing the note, I could not think of the name, deck plate, to save my life. Everything you’ve added, especially the MTH chassis and larger Pittman motor, drive shaft, awesome workmanship. Like I say, I’m well pleased. I appreciate everyone for helping make this a huge success. I will post pictures of this beautiful Hudson when it arrives at my station. Wow, I’m so excited. Happy Railroading Everyone

I just love this thread, it’s been a fun Journey, and Pat has this beautiful Steamer triple packaged for the trip to Tennessee once the weather gets better, so stay tuned, I’ll put a short video of this steamer running on my layout. It’s exciting. I hope everyone has enjoyed watching the transformation of a good looking JIe Hudson, to a Spectacular looking  J1eHudson. Happy Railroading Everyone

Good evening fellows, The K-Kine NYC J1e, Hudson totally Re-built by The Harmon Yards should arrive at the station in Clarksville Tennessee tomorrow. Pats provided a nice video on the proper way to connect the tender wiring connector to the locomotive and then I’m to call him for directions on The Rest of the Story. So, once I learn the new system, I’ll provide a short video of this fine steamer. This has been the very best experience I have ever had with someone working on an engine upgrade. From beginning to now, he has given a step by step detailed description of exactly what he’s going to do. So, stay tuned for the final upgrade pictures to be posted soon. I highly reccommend his services for anyone needing there model locomotives repaired or better yet, made to become stump pullers. Happy Railroading Everyone

Ok Fellows, the Re-Built K-Line J1e NYC Hudson is now home, here in Clarksville Tennessee, and was triple packed and had absolutely no issues. It’s beautiful and these are pictures before we started the locomotive up. Pat wanted to guide me through the Cab 2 remote for the features before operation. These are just a few pictures as a video will follow soon. Harmonyards did an awesome job all the way around this hudson. I sure recommend Harmonyards, The Harmon Shops to make any of your engines run like clockwork. Thank you Chris a., Pat, The Harmon Shops CEO, asked me to place this Re-Built, Re-Engineered beautiful Hudson on the track, he actually sent me a video on how to connect the tender cable and draw bar to the Locomotive accurately, then call him for “The rest of the story.” I did not power up the locomotive until I called Pat, he gave great instructions on putting the information into the Legacy Cab 2. We set,  steam, R100, ID #53, ERR Sounds, Gunrunner Johns chuff stuff,  later I will name it. We then started up the Hudson, the headlight so realistic looking, the marker lights so real, from the delicately placed hand rails, which carry the TMCC signal, to the workers, engineers/brakeman, Curtains, to the detailed deck plate, real looking coal, and the great sound performing speaker in the tender, it’s all amazing. The engine gained weight with the MTH chassis and the hi torque Pittman motor... It performs like a Workhorse, we backed the engine to a 25 car O scale freight consist, coupled up, got word from the tower, it’s a go. It had no issues pulling the train, a walk in the park. Yes, it’s a Stump Puller.... Tomorrow I will get some help in showing a short video so I can blow the whistle and ring the bell. All I can say, it’s been a fantastic journey, well worth every minute, Pats a great MasterModeler. Stay tuned.... Happy Railroading Everyone

Happy Friday Everyone, as I said yesterday, I would post a short video of Pats great work on the beautiful K-Line NYC J1e Hudson. I’m not good yet at doing videos, especially without help, holding my iPhone, Cab 2, is awkward, so this is just a simple test.  There will be a much better one later. Again, Pats work was awesome. Ok, I’m still practicing with Videoing this magnificent locomotive, still juggling the iPhone and the Cab 2 remote, but, I forgot to show you the Smoking part, so, hopefully this will help with that. Again, tomorrow I’ll have a helper, my best Buddy and friend, My Wife.... Don McErlean, it’s not as easy as it looks, however you and Arnold have me doing a lot of practicing.... Pat

Alright, I just wanted to bring back this great thread because I’m so happy with the finished job Pat did, The Harmon Shops, at the Harmonyards. With tax season being behind me now, I plan to post a few pictures of my new (to me) NYC Passenger train. The K-Kine TMCC J1e NYC looks so realistic, sounds so realistic, and operates like a fine tuned automobile. One question I have for Pat, can this engine run in conventional? If you have one of these beauties, let Pat make it a truly great locomotive for your model railroad, you’ll be so glad you did. I found this thread on page 25, so it’s been a day or two since he finished the work. Again, thank you Pat. It can, but you won’t be able to access all the features as easily as you can with the remote. It will not behave as well as it does in command. Kind of defeats the purpose of the Cruise Commander. I’d suggest running it in command as it’s been set up to do Larry,...

A tripod lads and an inexpensive phone holder that takes the 1/4"-20 screw.

Good evening folks, so far, most of the pictures of the K-Line NYC Hudson re-build have been of the right side, so today I’ll show you more pictures of this beautiful hudsons other side. Also, I’m starting to unpack the older heavyweight set of Lionel NYC passenger cars. I’m going to keep the silhouette figures, but add lower voltage lighting and have Royz trains add the lighted drumhead and marker lights to the observation car. (I’ve got to save some money first). Pat, I simply love your finished product. Thank you again.
