I am trying to do a factory reset on two PS-3 equipped engines a 30-20108-1 IAIS GP9 and 20-20247-1 CUT GP9. I currently don't have the DCS installed on the layout for multiple reason and neither are responding and just sit there when power is supplied. I setup a test track and tried a factory reset but I'm not able to get the two toots to indicate a reset. I'm using a Lionel CW80 on the test track, so my question is: Do I need to use a MTH transformer to get these to reset?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Well, the CW-80 is specifically mentioned by MTH as NOT compatible, so I'd try a different transformer.  Remember, a conventional reset is NOT the same as a command factory reset.  The timing for the reset is fairly critical, you need to do the 1/2 second cadence on-off-on-off... pretty accurately.

This might explain why the CW-80 in particular is not favored by MTH, that's what the waveform looks like coming out at full throttle.

Half throttle isn't any better...
