I'm somewhat surprised and disappointed in the low level responses on these. Although a lot of side chatter, there has been very little actual feedback from people who have purchased these. I would love to see more pics, and videos and commentary on appearance, sounds, operation, ability to pull a long train, etc.

Here is the E9.  It matches.  Since the 2008 sd70 8444 they standardized armor yellow.  Lots of UP Lionel all matched up to about a year ago.  Even the UP husky stacks all matched, and the diecast Es44s...

As a UP guy, I want them back to this armor yellow standard.

Here is the 8444, again perfect match...

I was told that Lionel is working to get back to this standard...  fortunately the excursion cars are in the correct armor yellow and provide a great 'as delivered color' recent reference for Lionel.

Yeah but what I am saying is the color on the new UP Lionel E-6 I just got do  not match the color of the new  UP  theater car. The theater car I have does match the excursion cars from 2016 catalog I have .Otherwise the engines are good.

I did view the Illinois Central E6 units and for the most part, fit, finish and color look about correct save for one point. The font size of the "Illinois Central" on the side of the engines is too large.

Operation was fine on the test track, top access panels for programming, smoke volume etc.

Light package was working as advertised.

Overall, it seems like a winner for passenger train operators.

However... as has been stated earlier, there are no passenger cars except for Santa Fe to pull with these engines.

Lionel and/or 3rd Rail will hopefully option out the passenger cars for BTO and see what everyone wants. Maybe there are just more collectors that want the engines with no intention on operating a reasonable consist.
