I'll be in Pittsburgh this week on business. Any stores with evening hours, or clubs that can be visited?
Thanks

YES
Marty,
I don't know about clubs, but there are about 25 decent train stores within an hour drive of The Point.

YES
Actually my wife was commenting about my bringing n scale on trips and going to hobby shops and my buddy Rich told her "hey! he's not going to boobyshops!
For anyone confused, I mispelled hobby as hooby in post title.
As far as stores go, here are a few that I frequent:
Hobby Express - Cranberry (north of downtown). Large selection of Lionel and MTH along with many other hobby items. Well stocked, clean store.
Imperial Train Co. - Imperial PA (west of downtown) Good stock of MTH and Lionel.
Iron Horse Hobby shop - South Hills - Normally well stocked with Lionel and MTH but as of Saturday their shelf stock seemed quite low. Not sure what the reason was.
Silver Mine - Washington PA (Southwest of downtown) Decent stock of Lionel and MTH.
AB Charles and Son - Mt Lebanon (South of downtown) Smaller inventory of Lionel and MTH along with many other hobbies.
Marty contact my personal email. We will be running trains tuesday night.7-midnight
Also the Greenburgh show is Saturday if your still here.

He sent his Legacy engines back to Lionel because he couldn't sell them without the Legacy systems. Many of them have been there for months and every time someone wanted to buy one they asked about Legacy. When he told them he didn't have any to sell, the engine sale fell through.
Apparently he was told he's not the only one sending engines back.
MartyE,
It seems the new owner does not have the same pull with Lionel, Williams & MTH.
Frank was a very special kind of man, and the respect for him thru out our hobby
was also very unique. Many times Frank was supplied with equipment when few others had it. Having been a member of Franks Iron Horse Train Cub for many years,
I understood the respect Lionel, Williams and MTH had for Frank & his business.
People in the Pittsburgh area miss him badly, this is just one more example of Franks
personal friendships/contacts thru out the industry. Both Frank at Iron Horse and David at Bill & Walts, had friendships thru out the industry, few others will ever acquire.
This makes the train hobby and business in our area very different today. Frank is gone now and Dave after his heart attacks, has down sized his train business from where he owned the better part of a city block on the Blvd of the Allies in the 50's thru the 70's to a small store outside of Pittsburgh. Proud to say both men were my friends, David still is. I was in his store just this past week, all these two men had to do was pick up the phone and they could get most any thing they wanted thru their personal contacts inside each company, an era gone by for sure.
PCRR/Dave
Frank teaching us about our hoddy at the Iron Horse Train Club, rest well my freind, and my God hold you in the Plam of his hands.
One special note of interest about Frank, he was President Reagans Special Advisor on
American Flyer Trains, both men owned original Silver President American Flyer Standard Gauge
Trains. During the Christmas holidays President Reagan would take time to call Frank and talk about their trains. Few people ever knew just how special Franks personal contacts really were.
I don't think even Frank could have them crap more Legacy systems to sell with their Legacy engines. Besides once Lionel went to the all distributor system only the Top 10 dealers make out.
Lionel has changed just as much as the Iron Horse.
