I just receive my PRR RS-3 that I had ordered. Take a look at the LC/LC+ forum, as there's a thread about some issues I've had with the loco navigating Fastrack switches.

Otherwise, I think it's great. It has good slow speed operation (much better than the LC Thomas I have), blows a lot of smoke (for a more affordable engine), and has good sounds. It's hefty and has good detail for the price. The detail pieces (like the handrails) are pretty solid, so I think the engine will stand up to a lot of handling. There's just a trace of roughness right now to the running (noticeable with some very subtle jerks and wobbles at slow speed), but I'm guessing that will smooth out as the engine gets broken in.

Other than the LC Thomas, this is the first experience I have with operation via a remote. I really like it.

I saw one run at the LHS the other day, and it seemed quite smooth with good slow speed operation. The sounds seemed adequate for a home layout. The traction tires looked like they fit the wheels better than the ones on the Geeps, and the trucks look like they sit more level than those on the Geeps. I was somewhat disappointed to see that it had Blomberg sideframes (the real loco used AAR type), and I have never liked the stamped sheet metal handrails that Lionel likes to use, but those are relatively minor points, considering the price.

Not a real in depth review, I know...
