My son & daughter-in-law just bought a house in the Catskills. The property is right on the edge of a designated wilderness area. The nearest 'towns' are Phoenicia and Lanesville. Are there any train stores in that area to visit? I imagine I'll be up there for a month at a time, so I'll have plenty of time with not a whole lot to do.

The Empire State railway museum and the Catskills rail explorers are in Phoenicia. In Kingston, a little drive away, there is the Catskills Mountains railroad and a trolley museum.
Also in Kingston the Maritime museum offers boat tours that have several railroad sites like an amazing trestle bridge.
The Hurley Country Store used to carry a fair selection of trains.

Thanks, that's a great start. My son already knew about the catskill rail explorers. A creek either runs through his property or its on the border, so I'm looking forward to doing some fishing as well.
