On Route 1, one and a half miles north of the York exit ramp off Rte.95 a little store called Woods to Goods which is also half a hobby shop for slot cars and model trains.

Mike and Mary are very fine hosts and are still getting settled in but there is a surprising amount of O gauge stuff both old and new. They are open 10 am to 5 pm daily. If heading south on Rte. 1 they are just past the entrance to the York Animal Park on the left.

I stopped in Rainy Day Trains in Saco, ME years ago but it was recently reported on here that the owner passed away.  Does anyone know if this store is still open?

Not far from there but in NH is Brentwood antiques (no sales tax in NH)

And there was another place who’s name I can’t remember near the NH/Maine border further inland.

Rainy Day Trains is now closed.   The family members have decided not to continue the business.

Norms O Scale is a nice shop.   Main focus is on Atlas 2 rail and mail order. But he has some 3 rail stuff as well.  There web site lists store hours as Friday and Sat. 9am to 5pm.  Travel time is about 1 hour from OOB with summer beach and lake traffic.  With most of the roads not the interstate.  Might be best to try the shop in York, The Train Shop at Brentwood Antiques in Hampton Falls , NH.   Or just take the mostly all highway drive down to Malden, MA and visit Charles Ro.

Sadly Rainy Day Trains is empty, I spent many days there with John and made many new friends there,he and the shop is missed by us all.

In Hampton Falls NH is The Train Shop go to thetrainshop.com you will find their address and phone. Also a short distance from there is Casey's Caboose at 102 Atlantic Ave North Hampton NH. Phone is 603-964-5726. Approximately an hour north of Hampton you will find Trains On Tracks at Amherst NH, WWWtrainsontracks.com.

Norms O-Scale is approximately 25 west of Portland Me on RT302 at. 41 Roosevelt Trail in Casco there is a narrow gauge steam loco in front of his shop. Go to mormsoscale.com  for information on store hours.

Have fun they're all nice shops.

There is a local Maine retailer that says you need to do four things when visiting our State.

1. Eat lobster.

2. Be around the abundant water (sounds like you got this covered).

3. Take lots of photos.

4. Shop one of their many stores, or, you could substitute that for a visit to our layout where we can feed you lobster, take you out on our boat, and let you take all of the photos you want. We are about an hour and ten minutes from OOB and 15 minutes from Norm's O-Scale.
