I'd really like the Frisco SD70ACe.......................

Wow, there are lots of changes in todays market, I would not blame the fellow for sending a Lionel Catalog as he may not have known LIONEL'S policy. Now, since its been exposed, are there an F3/F7 Legacy Diesels in the catalog? I would like a nice new set of The Sante Fe War Bonnets and also the Sante Fe Blue Whiskers versions.....WOW...If they are not, I would Like for Lionel to Produce a really Nice Set, Offerred as a Non Cataloged Special for us to Order, like BTO! I prefer the scale look with Legacy Command and would pay for VisionLine Quality. Lionel, hope you are Listening?????

I'm very excited to see the new offerings, but this would seem like a stab in the back to Lionel. Alas, integrity is something years gone by. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future, the catalogs went to online only, or make the hobby shops print their own! That would sure cut down on the leaks.
A toy train catalog leaked ! The horror ! The horror !
I'll be interested to see the "Modular" building offering. From what little can be seen, the warehouse/factory/engine facility that is pictured might be a very flexible item to customize as a building or modified to a flat. I also like the company houses, but wish someone would make a side by side/double home that were so common in the late 1800's through the 1940's. Currently Menard's Grampa's House is the closest looking to a double home needing only two separated front doors to finish the look.

It's the principal. Which you must be lacking.

By suggesting Arthur lacks principal, do you mean he cannot afford to buy anything in the catalog, or did you mean to suggest he has no principles? Does scoffing at early release of a Lionel catalog reduce a man to dishonor?
What, me worry?
Frankly, I see little value in a sneak peak at the catalog if the products aren't in the warehouse ready to ship on the catalog release date.
A sneak peak at a catalog doesn't make the products within arrive any faster. Once the catalog is released, knowing what was in it a week earlier is of no value.

So you would 500 engines no one wants and then blow them out? Or 250 box cars and then find out they are the go to item and you need 1000?

Really now.
All I'm saying is knowing a week before the catalog is officially released is of no real value, except for someones ego. And if someone buys a bootlegged catalog on ebay for $X.XX, it's a real bad investment a week later when most dealers give them away.
Knowing a week before won't bring in any more preorders, it won't prevent items from being cancelled and it won't change the production schedule. Even if production of a new item is slated to start on the catalog release date, the sneak peak's not gonna make it to the dealers any earlier...

I guess I foolishly spent $5.00 on a... O wait it's my $5.00. I can blow it on whatever I want. I guess I'll look at it this way... That's one less cheeseburger that's gonna end in a blocked artery. That Lionel catalog just gave me a few more days of running trains... Money well spent!!!
I believe it's like anything else new and yet to be officially announced. People leak the information as soon as they hear about it because people are excited! Plain and simple! It's the same reason car magazines publish photos of blacked out preproduction cars running on the track. It's exciting!
If it ruins your day to know before the official release then perhaps you shouldn't be reading the "Any updates on Lionel's 2016 Volume 2 Catalog" topic.

Sorry Rusty. I guess I misunderstood.
i know we have sd45s and nw2s now
what do we have considering other diesels and what do have non ready to run set wise
wanna see more than just marquette gp38 set and the windy city set which have been cataloged for 2 years now
not that they're bad sets but its time to see a different signature set offering diesel wise

What about the $5.95 you spent on shipping that catalog?
That would have gotten you a second cheeseburger, and possibly a small fry to boot!

I actually bought 2 catalogs so I guess there's an extra $10.95 which I have yet to justify to those who want to tell me how I should spend my money.
I would say that's one less cigar but I have a humidor full so who am I kidding... Smoke em if ya got em
Forget about trying to police the Internet about leaks. Either read what's here or don't. Trying to be the moral conscious of this place will send you to an early grave. Let Lionel fight the battle if they want. I'm sure they would if they wanted to. Everyone relax and take comfort in knowing another catalog of fantastic offerings awaits us. BigRail

If you think that's pathetic, said "dealer" also put an ad on the forum that the catalog (s) were available. It got deleted rather quckly.
A.B.T. is not even a forum sponsor, like Alan was gonna let that fly.
After going to their store and seeing a wall of heavily dust covered 10+ year old locos tagged at msrp, the silly idea of selling catalogs on ebay doesn't suprise me one bit.
Ro could crush that store with his wallet and doesn't play silly games.

I never have received a free catalog from a dealer unless I first made a purchase worth well more than the price of a catalog, and even those occasions were few and far between. Usually had to pay the cover price in an LHS or maybe received a discount from an eBay seller to offset shipping cost before joining LCCA (for which catalogs are included in membership).
The dealers have received advance catalog's so it's out there to see if you are near one.
I like these company row houses.. .they will be great on the layout. Are these made from Weaver tooling?
I tappears so!

Fortunately, it is not up to you to dictate what thread I can read, what posts I can respond to and how I respond to them.

After making several purchases (both large and small) over the years from one of our forum sponsors, I receive free catalogs every year. Usually arrives in the mail a week or so after the hobby shops get them.

Any rugged, conventional, Pullmor motored, magne traction toy trains in this catalog?
I'm done with the "add a tenth remote control to the pile" Lionchief products.
And I have no use for the big dollar, artisan weathered, massive radius, rubber tired, can motored, fragile monstrosities designed by Lionel's fancy pants millenials for rivet counting purists. I wonder how many of Lionel's employees have seen a production line, or even put their hands on a transformer throttle?
Their new products seem to leave a large number of us traditional operators behind, just as their new millenial, kill your finger scrolling the mouse, tile photos from hell website has left most with common sense confused
Time for a coffee break.

Well to be fair the LionChief + engines do have a switch to operate it in conventional mode and all Legacy engine still do but I hear ya. How many remotes can you have? I don't think Lionel was expecting these to be so popular among seasoned hobbyist as they were.
Don's shoot the messenger but this is from the dealer selling the catalogs on the bay. He added the following below to his item description last night:
RUTLAND Mogal?????? I'm in
Wow the Everett Railroad - that's a neat road name!!
Kudos to Lionel for certainly keeping up with current events.

I guess that dealer didn't find Lionel's phone call on Friday too intimidating! Probably thinking it's just easier to ask for forgiveness later.

Was it reported that Lionel contacted them? Didn't see it posted.

I'm with you Rusty...
I am curious about the new catalog but I'm still waiting on Pre-orders from C1 ..... I think I am more excited about train season and local shows starting up than I am about a new catalog.
I don't need to buy much anymore but it's still always Christmas when a new Lionel catalog comes out.
It looks like a great number of their freight car molds are lost in China.

I'm hoping there are some new road names for the LionChief Plus NW-2. They have received good reviews. I'd like to pick one up and none of the original 4 road names interested me. I see the post that there are 12 road names for the NW-2 in the catalog. I'm guessing those are for scale locos as I doubt they would release 12 road names in LC+.

I'm sure they are the scale ones, I hope they don't cancel them again...
Are they 50' Double-door boxcars that have end doors?
Andrew
Can you show the rest of the NW2s and the SD70ACe's?
