Anyone control Lionel tug boat with CAB1/CAB2?

I have and love Lionel tug boat. It has a manual (wired) remote control with an on/off switch for the smoke unit and a button for the whistle. Has anyone used any of the ERR boards to control the smoke and horn with the a CAB1/2. I reached out to Ken at ERR. He is always very helpful, but he had no experience with this accessory. I power the tugboat with 18V from the 180W brick.
