im looking at a lc+ Engine. Actually I’m not sure if I want a diesel or steam. My main question is are they good pullers and trouble free?

From what I’ve seen on Lionel videos they are great pullers.
I’m trying to creep out of a conventional /soundless world. I really wish they had more road names.
-They are excellent - and the A - B units stay together. And I'm a steam guy.
Hi China Train 99:
Yes: I have 4 on my layout. No major issues with pulling up and down grade. The speed control is very reliable. I have 6 LionChief Plus videos on my YT Channel. Check out the link in my OGR Signature.

The diesels pull SO hard that they yank the whole coupler an pilot assembly out by a 1/4”!

I have several LC+ locos, both steam and diesel. Great pullers!
And look for some of the new releases with Bluetooth. Great stuff from Lionel!
Yes, steam and diesel LC+ locos are great pullers! No experience with LC, only LC+.
...yes - easily pull 10-12 cars/passenger.
This has been very informative for me. I'm a post war Lionel guy who is looking at LionChief as an affordable option for command control. Thanks for all the comments, and especially thanks to Paul Moore for sharing the video.

LC doesn't have the features that LC+ does. LC only runs with the remote, LC+ can run with the remote or conventionally. There are other differences, but I can't remember what they are at the moment.
LC+ typically has fan driven smoke, cruise control, electrocouplers, and additional controls like volume through the remote.
