This video highlights Atlas' "new" Rio Grande GP7's issued in June 2022.

The Geeps are hauling a mix of MTH "High Cube" boxcars and a few Atlas DRGW boxcars. An Atlas Rio Grande "The ACTION Road" caboose brings up the markers.

I use the term "new" when describing the GP7's. Actually, they have been around for a long time back to when Atlas purchased the molds from "Red Caboose". It just took a few years to deliver them after announcing them over 5 years ago.

The MTH "High Cubes" are a favorite of mine. They are a combination of new and older models. I hope you enjoy the video.

If so, please leave a "like" or "comment".

Donald!  Awesome video!  I love the high cube cars.  Nice caboose too!  As usual I love seeing your layout!

We were talking about the sound, and I think your GP7 actually sounds better than mine. The horn sound is a lot deeper.  I may have to break down and get a different speaker.

hey Jason. Thanks. I will share a secret with you. My GP7 most likely sounds just like yours. During post processing, I tweaked the dB’s a little on most of the clips. I also overlayed a sound track of a train on jointed rail.

So now you know my secrets. Please do not tell anybody.

I am sure I will also be doing the speaker upgrade down the road.

Take care.

Don,

Let me add my thank for the video. Wish I'd ordered one of the GATX heritage hi-cubes. Looks cool. Did get one of the ordinary GATX hi-cubes.

Hey David. Thanks for the kind words. Those GATX heritage hi-cubes are nice. I am finally learning after a long time….when MTH and now Atlas announce anything called “hi-cube”, immediately place your order because they will go fast once issued.

Take Care.

3Rail: I love your videos and your layout truly spectacular. The videos are very well done as if your are a professional videographer.

Hey Rick. You words are truly inspiring. Thank you. I always had an interest in photography and years ago I moonlighted as a photo journalist. Today, I still write for the magazine. I only recently got interested in videos. My layout lacks the proper lighting for videos so I have to supplement with portable studio lights. I do not like some of the unrealistic shadows that show up from time to time. A lot of the magic occurs in post processing that ties all the clips together to tell a story.

Thanks again Rick.
