Atlas Sw-9 Coupler replacement

Good evening. I need to replace the coupler on an Atlas SW-9 switcher. Atlas has provided me with the part and the instruction to pry the cover off of the coupler pocket to replace the coupler. Try as I might, this thing is not budging. I fear I will damage the shell in my attempt to open up the coupler. Is there a trick to what should be a simple repair?
