Saw this posted on Train Orders, but I'll post as direct link. The topic title I copied from the article title, but added Ohio after Aurora. But here's the link to the article - https://www.cleveland.com/expo...target2box_targeted_

I don't know if there is really any relation, but, there are two familiar names to hobbyists, Aurora and Mantua.
Aurora Plastics was in West Hempstead (Long Island) New York. They were sold to Nabisco in 1971.
Interesting article.
The rail line through part of my town was still active when we moved here. But was shut down long ago. The argument here was for a rail trail versus a scheme to run inter modal buses to downtown. Many of the residents whose property backed up to the track did not want rail trail due to privacy and security concerns.
The rail trail won. It is used by many more people than I ever imagined.
As for the folks in Ohio: They will have only themeselves to blame if they have power problems. We all want good power, but don't want the required infrastructure anywhere near us.
i believe this was the erie-lack. warren to cleveland , ohio connection......along with that neat restored station, there is a caboose there too....
FirstEnergy is not to be trusted. They currently are in bankruptcy due to many years of mismanagement, sneaky rate hikes that circumvented the PUCO and more. Those of us who live in the area and have been paying attention as to what has been going on with FirstEnergy have good cause for distrust.

I can't blame anyone for not wanting to be around those buzzing power lines!

And Mantua was located in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey.

If you look at Google maps, the railroad barely skirts Aurora... Other than the station, it wouldn't encroach on a lot of people...
