I came across this gentleman who crammed a bunch of electronics into a 1:48ish Delorean. Link below. The video is a year old but he mentions that he got it in front of someone at Lionel, but it sounds like he only got a 'nice work pal' sort of response.
Why hasn't one of the big manufacturers done any Back to the Future III licensing? It seems right up Lionel's alley for the licensing. The built in cult fan base for those movies would certainly draw from outside the typical hobbyist. Or is it that the BTTF producers don't want to license? Anybody have any insight? Maybe it's a job for Menards or MTH?
The manufacturer could easily come up with a variety of items in BTTF theme:
Delorean
10 Wheeler Sierra No. 3 with coaches
Old west town buildings making up Hill Valley with courthouse clock tower in construction
1950s Hill Valley town square buildings
Perhaps an incomplete bridge trestle accessory that 'completes' itself when you hit 88 scale mph I'm sure there is some kind of optical illusion/mechanical slight of hand/theatrics that could pull it off. Just spit balling here...
