I made  an O-guage "track riding" one from the 1/48 model . It is not powered because the movie one was not powered.

In the movie, it was pushed by the engine until it made the needed speed then traveled into the future where it was promptly destroyed.

So this was a very short-lived movie model. I agree that  lights would be nice but not sure on it being self-powered.

I would love to see yours, Alan.

The one in the original post is also a "pusher" but used track power for lights and sound.  I think lights would be nice once reaching 88mph to simulate the time travel beginning, but shouldn't be on all of the time.  Easy to say, hard to do - which is why I am lobbying for a manufacturer to produce a set with one included in it
