I went to the setting and entered 9 that says backlight stays on all the time but there is no backlight. I must have hit something because I was trying the recording feature when I noticed the backlight stopped working, I didn't see anything in the manual except backlight timing and of course the constant on... Is there something I'm missing?

Robert which version are you running 1.3 or 1.5,I'm not sure it matters but maybe useful info for others to chime in.
Another thought would be maybe the batteries are low?

Hey Doug thanks for the reply. All I know it's the latest version available. I've read some posts before that mentioned the battery.
Sent remote to Lionel .. they received it on Thursday of last week and shipped it back the next day. I believe they just gave me another remote. I was able to see that they fixed it although the feedback button seemed to be stuck. I punched it once and stopped for now. Keeping fingers crossed , but I am impressed how fast they got to it.

Well now the middle row does not respond ....from 2 down the row to the power off button.
Sounds like it's dying, but you could try the recessed reset button on the back to see if that brings it back.
