After having some signal strength issues during new layout construction, I decided to test the TIU with only one section of track that is not connected to the rest of the layout. It turns out that I can only get a signal level of 10 from fixed output 1. Variable 1 and Fixed 2 both receive a 5 signal level while Variable 2 receives between 5 and 8. The variable channels are set to fixed and I am using a Z500 to supply the TIU aux power. I was using one output of a Z4000 to conduct the test, moving the output to each TIU channel. The TIU is older than a Rev L (possibly H, its mounted). It has operated fine in the past, but I never checked signal strength on my temp layouts. With my new layout, I want to bring the signal strength up as much as possible. Do you think that I have a TIU with 3 bad channels, or am I missing something? Is it worth trying light bulbs?
