Bascule Bridge #313

So after 60 years, I have our bascule bridge working,,,, well almost. The motor can't raise the bridge with out some human helping hand. I am looking for a new counter balance spring (313-77) incase the old one is worn out. Springs are difficult to find, and for a reasonable price. Motor runs and brushes are good, using about 15 volts, coupling is not slipping. any suggestions? Tell me everything you know about these bridges. Thanks for your help,,,, this forum has saved my , as,,,,a few times.
