Three hundred smackeroni's for that? Who was it that said "there is a sucker born every minute?" Maybe P.T. Barnum huh?
The description states; " train set operates on 9-volt battery". I'm sure that will confuse a few people.
They mark up the price so the Half-Price sale looks like a steal.

Nice set if someone collects them. Clearly, it could get someone interested in trains and that is a good thing.
Jeff: I think the box car plays music ( Christmas music) and that is what needs the 9 volt battery?
All: I might wait until after the holidays when it will be seriously marked down.
And for the Christmas Cynics: The good news is that it is Bass Pro shop, so while there buy a matching pellet gun to shoot the snot out of that music-playing box car. Remove battery first - we don't want anyone getting hurt by dripping battery acid. 
Thus far we have the following retailers with Lionel sets: Menards, Wegmans, Bass Pro Shops. Anyone else?
It is a turn key set and it makes the hobby more accessible and perhaps creates additional interest by kids of all ages. Kudos to the stores for doing this. 
I just can't wait to get those 2 race cars.
$300. and it works on a 9 volt battery. I'm already confused.
