I recently dug my trains out of storage and bought display cases for them, so at least I can look at them before I start building a layout. I recall that I occasionally see a thread about beer-related cars. I hope to revive this thread, because these cars are plentiful, and I believe most every layout has at least one.

The two cars I have were purchased NIB from a forum member some time ago. They're made by "O Line Reproductions" and are consecutively numbered Walters Beer cars. They're semi-scale, which is what my layout will have. I just love the colors and the script in which Walters is seen on the sides. To me, this is one of the more attractive beer cars. Walters also had a smaller brewery in Pueblo, CO, where we lived for about ten years back in the 1990s-early 2000s.

Please post any other beer-related cars any of you guys might have.

Tom

I have what is perhaps the original beer car and a vintage beer can to finish if I ever get around to building it.  Walthers listed these in their O scale catalog for many years.  The can came out of a 1947 house remodel I worked on.  It was found inside the voids of a block wall.

Desert Division did a run of these 50' reefers a few years back for A-1 beer.

One of my favorites is another Arizona former beer done by Desert Division.  There was a second design done that I have as well but have not photographed.

I have one of those kits somewhere. My thoughts on assembly leaned towards a piece of copper pipe with pipe caps for the end; nothing ever came of the project. If I were to do it today, I would (probably) use a pre-made tanker body and install the Walthers kit parts.

Note that RMT (Ready Made Trains) is also coming out with a Walters Beer reefer, so you may want to check that out.

I have one of these tank car kits as well, also still unbuilt. If you haven't checked out the decals that come with it, they're pretty funny.

Altoona Brewing Company brewed "Horseshoe Curve Beer" up until the early 1970s.  My layout is set in the Western PA area, and in 1950.  So... I have an Altoona Brewery (MTH Granary), with a Horseshoe Curve "water" tower (Plasticville water tower base and roof- Horseshoe Curve beer can).  The cars are MTH and RMT.

A beer can is 4.8" tall X 2.6" in diameter holding 12 oz. (assuming 100% fill).

Anybody want to calculate how many gallons in1:48 scale?
