I was using my CAB3 app to run a Mikado L1 and got tired of going to the Bluetooth menu to change the whistle and bell options. By chance I found that I could hit the AUX1 key then the whistle or bell key to cycle through the choices. I don’t have a traditional Legacy controller or I might have guessed this trick which is not documented anywhere in the CAB3 app online manual. However it is the standard method of changing the options with the Legacy CAB-2 remote.

That information is in the locomotive manual and is the same button pushes across the 3 remote options. That being said it's always a good reminder to see it in action.
Maybe it does for the newest engines but for the Mikado L1 it only mentions the Cab-2, LionChief app, Cab-1 and conventional. It does not mention the Cab-3 app.

Again these functions are the same across the 3 remotes. I can understand the confusion but since the Cab3 app is based on the Cab2 remote I would think you could make the connection. Hopefully Lionel starts including the App in it's instructions or at least make mention of the Cab and Apps similar control aspects.
Another thing I noticed is that when the Sequence Control is activated that automatically changes the whistle to default. Then you have to go and change it back again to your preferred choice. Seems like this is a bug.

Sequence control has always done that to me. Even all the way back to RS lite sound boards with the first S-3
altho it typically might just change it to the next sound.
