Although I did not order a VL Big Boy, I certainly got caught up in the excitement of those who did. Certainly, Lionel's crown achievement in every respect, with numerous operating features and superb detailing. The only possible downside is the front engine "overhang" on smaller radii track configurations. A small price to pay for operating such an awesome behemoth!

I am both fascinated and saddened with this exciting new release for two reasons:

The almost $2000 price tag (though worth every penny!) and my lack of a suitable wide radius layout to operate it on.

I will just have to vicariously enjoy the operating videos of this masterpiece from my fellow Forum members!

This has been one of the most exciting Christmas Seasons for O-Gauge train enthusiasts in many, many years. The Big Boy's arrival has had a lot to do with it. This is good in many respects. Interest at this level builds enthusiasm for O-Gauge trains. This is infectious.

Congratulations to all received this spectacular engine.

Its a very nice model but my guess is, if the Legacy VL and Legacy JLC #4014 Bigboys were parked or running side by side without a whistle you would not be able to tell them apart.

WELL SAID Joe…..I run my TMCC big boy and Legacy big boy side by side on my double main line and other than the lit up number boards and synchronized smoke  on the JLC it's hard to tell the diff. The sound on the older TMCC model is much better IMO.They both cost $1900.00 together including tax and shipping.NickOriginally Posted by JC642:
