guys got a new old stock RTR MTH bantam blue comet set with 3 passenger cars and Z-1000 its a Proto 2 set. track, lock ons etc. Now, did they include a battery in the tender? I would think this old of a set, it would not work anyway. anything I need to do other than lube it up, prime the smoke unit good? the box was plastic wrapped, so this baby is brand new! got for good price

As you say, the battery is probably toast. All you can do is try to charge it up for at least 6 hours. if the shutdown sequence lasts for the entire time(8-10 seconds) it's ok--. That said, I'd put a new one in, or put in a BCR in place of the battery.

If this was the PS-2 3V system version that battery probably will take a charge and work fine for a few years. The 2.4V batteries are more resilient then the 8.4V batteries. G
