This thing looks and sounds amazing! No issues at all with it so far. Feels a lot better than the MTH version, which I also own, and will likely be selling soon.

How does it feel better? Heavier, more detailed?
Here's raw video of my train club member's new to him MTH Premier version from this past Saturday:
Good to hear (pun intended).
I've got a preorder in on the "second wave" of new Lionel LC 2.0 Amtrak locos, i.e., one of the Anniversary liveries.
Last time I looked, think they had a June/July delivery date.

Heavier and more solid for sure. I think it has a couple small new details more than the MTH version.

Those do look nice! I didn't get one for myself, but I'm looking forward to seeing them.
Quick question about the smoke unit. I got the same engine today and it is really nice. On the bottom of the train is a physical button to turn the smoke unit ON or OFF. In the manual on page 18 it says that if you use the LionChief app on your smart phone you can turn the smoke unit ON or OFF. So if the physical button under the train is set to ON and you go into the LionChief app and turn the smoke unit OFF is it really off or is just the fan off that blows the steam upward? I am asking because the manual says not run the smoke unit without fluid in it. Since the physical smoke unit ON/OFF button is on the bottom of the train I would hate to have to keep picking it up and switching the button back and forth between ON and OFF. If the LionChief app really turns off the entire smoke unit even though the physical button underneath is set to ON that would be a simple way for me to turn the smoke unit ON or OFF without picking up the train.
Well the new Lionel version can't compare to the MTH Premier Genesis, and the new Atlas Genesis versions, for sure.

Thats for sure Lionel needs a to make a siemens charger vs p42 legacy scale. These are 14 inch not 21 inch. The speed control is like a toy, it too basic. The MTH Premier Genesis, and the new Atlas Genesis versions are so much better. What market did Lionel go for not the scale market. Sunset Model are but they are lionel TMCC control and rail sound 5. but they are scale.

I have an MTH Premier model, which I love, as well as the smaller WBB models, and I agree, but why the complaints?
I think you're comparing apples to oranges.
Is it not clear that these Lionchief 2.0 offerings are RailKing or WBB competition and not Premier? They are definitely not scale and weren't intended to sell into the scale part of the market.
By the way @Zigmont just what is "The speed control is like a toy". Maybe that's because it is a toy? If you're referring to the typical LionChief controller then you need to know that LC 2.0 locos don't come with one. You can operate them with the "toy-like" LionChief universal remote (6-83071), but just as easily with a Cab-1/Base-1 (TMCC), Cab-1L/Base-1L, or a Cab-2/Base-2 (Legacy) remote, or your smartphone.
Lionel bought the rights to MTH's tooling for these engines. Since they didn't for the scale-sized ones it would make sense that they have no intention of offering scale-sized ones.
While we're comparing apples and oranges lets throw in walnuts as well. The idea of an O gauge/scale Charger has been bantered about on this forum many, many, many times over the last 9 months or so. The problem is licensing. However on this it looks like someone has finally secured a license, or is about to -- 3rd Rail, as you say.
Will 3rd Rail's Charger be pricey? Yes. Will it be good? Yes, unless you want something less expensive.
In the near future it looks like you'll get your wish. But probably not from Lionel.

Any comments for my post above about the smoke unit?

If you are using bluetooth with the app the smoke switch on the bottom of the locomotive can be on or off and yes the the app will cut the smoke unit completely off regardless of the smoke switch position.
Brad
Corbin, like other Lionel engines I’m sure the lionChief app turns the entire smoke unit off.

They're not supposed to compete with MTH premier. They're supposed to compete with railking, and other semi-scale models.
Thanks for the information Brad and Rod.
