I just started adding some track to my layout. Half way through I realized I was alternating between the left and right for my outside rail. Will this matter? I didn’t want to power it up if that would cause some sort of issue… but I also don’t want to yank it all apart for no reason.

For 3 rail, it doesnt matter unless you mess up inside an insulated rail section. Most people tie the rails together anyways for better continuity through the wheels.

I use Gargraves & Ross, I dropped a line from each outer rail and tied them together with lever nuts. If in the future I decide that I'm going to add insulated rail signals, it'll be easy to pop the one side out of the lever nut for the insulated rail section.
