I’m in love with the subway idea and am planning on doing one myself at some point. Currently on an Amtrak kick but looking towards subway. I’ll be interested to see which way you go with it.
Well again, John, your layout is really impressive! Wow, all of that prefabricated Mianne benchwork, a sprawling, custom fitted top, Ross switches and miles of track, along with a myriad of electrical wiring, power bricks, remotes, etc.
We’ve been watching this thing develop and learning about its progress for years. I’m glad you finally have acres of layout to run your dozens of trains on. Well done. 👍
But, there still seems to be one thing missing. THE SCENERY John, THE SCENERY! Where is it? 🤔 😂😂😂
Vern, the scenery will take a bit longer I suspect. I'm thinking about it.
I have to finish some detail wiring as well. I'm still installing some of the Lionel LCS stuff, trying to figure out where signals will be, installing the sound absorbing butyl rubber on the bottom of the second level, etc.
John, what is the road name on the MU cars?

Hmm. 🤔 It seems like we’ve heard that before. But, very well, carry on. 👍
Very impressive work. Wiring top notch as expected. Joe
John somehow we missed this. Fantastic job and a beautiful layout.
Hand the guests some remotes and run three on one line. Plenty of space. How could they collide?😮
Don’t let Vern give you a hard time. Scenery will come.
With those beautiful trains and smooth running right of way you have all the scenery you need for now. O scale trains are the scenery!
With three independent loops and a mainline which can easily handle two or three trains you can get the happy juices flowing at anytime.
13 staging tracks over 12' long each can supply a varied running session.
John's 3 speaker Big Boy can put you right at trackside!! Very impressive.

If it really bothers him that bad, he's welcome to come over and help.

Well, it really doesn’t bother me that much, John. It’s just that for as long as your layout has been “under construction,” I thought that at least some scenery would have been done by now. 🤔
And if you didn’t live on the other side of the Rockies and so far away, I WOULD come over and help. ☺️ But just the same, keep up the good work. 😉 👍
This is a leisurely RR build, but we'll be getting to scenery.
Scenery???? And cover up Tom's expert craftsmanship?????
John- throw down some Plasticville and call it done!
Bob
John.22years to get it done?Maybe more Right! C B Q Run Great! John K
JOHN
you're such a scenery sluggard.
. ... like me!
You have to pace yourself or you'll burn out early!

Is Harry going to come for the scenery John, or make it up as you go along when you get to that point?
I see plenty of scenery. Isn't it desert themed??!!
It's "early dirt" theme!
Minimalism to the maximum. It’s all the rage. I’m quite sure you enjoy the techie part of building a layout, but you’ll soon have all that nailed down. Running trains is fun enough, no rush to spread a bunch of ground cover and glue all over everything. A couple buildings wouldn’t hurt I guess haha. Nice work so far. Have fun.
I was under the layout today looking for my boxes of buildings and signals...
As I’m sure, the signals and the wiring thereof will take precedence over planting a structure somewhere. But you can always look forward to stringing together a couple skinny wires to put some light in them haha. I always enjoyed the wiring and getting things just right then after the bugs are worked out knowing you can run trains, just run trains.
Darn it, sometimes I really do miss my layout. Enjoy yours, it’s a beauty. Keep going!
Cheers, W1
