Buying a Subway set

I would like an opinion on a purchase that I am thinking of buying. this would be my first subway set and i am not to sure which one to get.the two are Lionel R30 legacy or Mth R40 with proto 2.0 I have both sysytems legacy and DCS. But I can't make my mind up. I like the R40 because it has people that come in side the train and the looks of it.What i like about the Lionel is the bright color red and the opening automatic doors.would it be diffiacult to add people to the Lionel R30 because of the automatic doors operation.also what has better sound.

I don't have either of the sets you are interested in, but can say from the other MTH subways I have vs the Lionel R27 set that I like the MTH sounds slightly better than the Lionel set. The Lionel set has nice details and the doors are cool (when they work). I have installed people in my Lionel set without any problems. I just removed the shell and put the figures in and that was it. It all comes down to personal preferences as to what you should choose. The bad on the Lionel set would be the higher price and possible door problems. The bad on the MTH set would be...hmm, well like I said it's all personal preferences. I'm sure you will enjoy either set. Good luck.
