Hey all,
Have a question about the cab 1 L remote. I push the locomotive button, makes a beep on the remote but the command doesn't appear to be received by the base as no red light blinks. Anyone else run into this issue?

What is your base? Original TMCC, Legacy, or 1L?
Make sure the channel of the base and the remote are the same, that's likely the issue here.
Yes, Richard raises an important point, because the Cab1-L will only communicate with a Base 1-L.
Actually, the CAB1L will work fine with the Legacy Command Base or the BASE1L. It will not work with the older TMCC BASE1.

I've fixed a couple "broken" Cab-1L setups for people by just making sure they are both on the same channel. The guys don't even know how they changed the channel on the remotes, but they did.
GRJ and Lou, am I correct that the channel is regulated by the plug-in crystal just inside the remote battery box?

The CAB1L/BASE1L set (blue case) has no user accessible crystal like the old CAB1/BASE1 set (gray case). It actually is crystal controlled, but the channel is selectable by holding SET and pressing a key from #1 to #9. They use a Frequency Synthesizer to generate the channel frequencies. It is compatible with either the BASE1L or the Legacy Command Base and uses the same 2.4ghz frequency band. I have a couple of CAB1L remotes that I use on my Legacy layout. The old CAB1 uses 27mhz to communicate with the TMCC BASE1 or the TMCC PowerMaster.
Thanks John!

J911 - Well, did you get your trains running based on the comments of GRJ and Lou1985?
Nope. As stated a few times. Remote is on the same channel. The remote is sending commands to the base and the base is receiving them. The only thing not responding are the top row buttons. Took apart the remote, cleaned it out with with electronics cleaner, inspected for any corrosion or damage to the pcb (Printed Circuit Board) tried again and nothing. Just going to order a new remote. Seems like this one is toast.

That's not what you said in the beginning! If you don't give us accurate information, it's hard for us to give you accurate solutions. Initially, you posted a totally different issue, see below. BTW, you never stated that the remote and base were on the same channel, at least not in this thread.

What you describe now is a totally different problem! If some of the buttons aren't working, it could be the keypad keys, I've used this kit to fix a few of them.

My apologies. I thought I stated that.
