While running trains using both my Cab2 and iCab on my iPhone, the smoke and reset icons on the Cab2 stopped responding. It was not the engines because those funcions, actually all functions, worked using the iCab. After powering down and restarting everything, the problem with the Cab2 remained. Should I send it back to Lionel, or is there some other fix I can make short of that. Thanks.

The only other thing I can recommend is remove the batteries for a few minutes to do a total reset and see if that helps. You might consider reloading the current software into it, just in case something got corrupted.
OK. I’ll do both. Thanks.
Gunrunnerjohn, I tried but it didn't fix the problem. I then contacted Lionel. They are going to take care of it, even cover mailing costs to and from. Can't beat that...
Lionel must be overwhelmed with repairs. They've had my Cab2 for 2 months...I have a Cab1, but most of my motive power is Legacy and I can't run my accessories and blocks connected through my LCS. On the other hand, Dean was extraordinarily helpful in fixing my Backshop issues. He went way over and beyond to include giving me a call to sort out the issues. Ahem, you'd think at 70+ I would have learned patience... but, hey, this is my layout, man!!!!
Happy Independence Day! A big thanks to all those in uniform past and present that keep us free!
FWIW, I just got my cab 2 back after about 4 months at lionel. The problem with it was the screen wouldn't turn off. Now that it's back, it works fine but likes to go through batteries very quickly. I'm wondering if I should send it in for that.
There are two switches under the red button. I have to press it hard and hold it until the screen is just white and then when I let it go, the CAB2 shuts off. Sometimes it seems quite a strong press.
