I am working on a layout design. The individual has Marx 034. RRT doesn't have the library. Mixy created one for SCARM, but does not have the 034 track.

I have found 15.75", as perhaps a new track or calculated number. Marx333 measured his actual track diameter of the center rail as 31.25", giving a radius 15.625"

Which would be more accurate?

Mixy is going to add this to the Marx library.

Thanks.

I might be able to tell you this evening.  First I have to find the old track I have and then measure it.  But I'll give it a shot.

Bob Nelson calculated the radius at about 15.75", for a diameter of 33.5", from chord measurements and straight track measurements, which would be more accurate than assuming a constructed circle of 8 flimsy antique track sections would be perfectly round and tightly assembled by eyeballing it and attempting an actual sample measurement.

Rob,

that was my thinking, too.

The Marx document that I found has a description of 34" from outward tie to outward tie. That fits with Bob's calculations for rail to rail.

Marx333 got 12 5/8" -12 3/4" for the chord of the center rail, making me think his track is bent more to a tighter curve. His tie to tie was 33 5/8".

So, with the flexing and abuse of Marx333's track, I suggested to Mixy to use Bob's calculations. Using the Marx document description of the 802 being 13" in length(chord), Bob's factor for a 45° section works out perfectly.

Check out the link to the old Marx doc. pretty cool.

Thanks, Rob.
