Not recommended.

The older DCS commander is DC output ONLY. Many Lionel TMCC engines specifically must be run on AC and DC track power can damage them.

Further, the power section of the DCS commander being a DC circuit, has current limits- but also does not like inductive kicks back from more traditional Lionel universal AC style motors and can be damaged by voltage spike or current shorts.
