Can MTH commander 50-1028 run TMCC engine | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Does anybody know if you can run a TMCC engine and a PS 2 engine on the same track using the MTH Commander 50-1028 unit. I have a cab1 base unit, if I use the adaptor cable to connect the commander unit to the cab1 base will it work?

Not recommended.

The older DCS commander is DC output ONLY. Many Lionel TMCC engines specifically must be run on AC and DC track power can damage them.

Further, the power section of the DCS commander being a DC circuit, has current limits- but also does not like inductive kicks back from more traditional Lionel universal AC style motors and can be damaged by voltage spike or current shorts.
