Pictured is a plastic sprung/equalized Timken roller-bearing truck. Anyone know who makes/made this? It reminds me of Athearn, but I haven't seen any Athearn roller-bearing trucks available.
Thanks.

It is athearn; I have used them and still have a few . If you check the bolster against a bettendorf bolster you will see they are interchangeable . Years ago they were made in metal. Franky_Ogee
Ah. An out-of-production Athearn. Thanks. I like the Athearn truck design and would prefer them over the Weaver trucks if they had the modern ones available.
looks like athearn to me they made the roller bearing, arch bar, bettendorf and andrews. first in diecast and then in plastic.
Athearn high-speed truck for express boxcars.
That is/was Athearn model of an early design ASF A3 Ride -Control-Truck with Timken roller bearings. Photos of two GN express service box car with these trucks can be seen on pages 10 &11 of Railway Prototype Cyclopedia 8.
In the 1970's Reynolds sold all 4 types of Athearn delrin trucks in highly discounted unassembled lots. Someone (possibly Reynolds) offered white metal brake shoe sets which could be installed in the Athearn side frame in place of the lower spring plate. I only saw them once (at a197x Indianapolis O scale National) and regret not buying several dozen as they really improved the appearance of the trucks.

Thanks for all the replies. Definitely clears things up. Wish they had made the modern 70-ton and 100-ton roller bearing trucks. My 3-rail trading partner is sending me the pair as he found them in a bunch of parts he'd picked up. I think I know just the car to put them on.
Thanks again.
P&D Hobbies also has a stock of trucks. They usually have Athearn's in stock.
