I think you could do it if your smoke unit has the room for another smoke element. If your running DCS or TMCC/Legacy you'd have to run it off the track pickups because I don't know weather the command board could handle double the load. You could just have an on/off switch to control it.

What's not made clear is whether the resistors are wired in series or parallel, I'm figuring it's got to be series as a 5 ohm load would be a real hot, near short, power hungry load on the power supply.
BUT, look at the size of that bucket that the fan blows through. I think that if he used more wick material, it would work better & last longer per fill-up.
