I am planning a trip to the Binghamton,NY/Scranton, PA area at the end of March.  Can any one tell me where I can get a schedule or idea of trains movements for that line?  I would like to get pictures of trains on Tunkhannock Viaduct or on Starrucca Viaduct oron any other locations along the line.

Scranton area is controlled by NS now and interchanges with local carriers Delaware-Lackawanna and Reading & Northern.  Still things to see here, but maybe not what you are looking for.

You might want to plan a return trip over the summer/fall when the tourist lines are operating, which will be a little more interesting; Steamtown and the ECTM in Scranton, both diesel and steam out of Port Clinton, and diesel on the Stourbridge in Honesdale.  I don't know if NS is still allowing passenger cars over the viaduct now though.

You probably are getting zero responses because CN does not operate into Binghamton. I just looked at the current online CN map and they do not even operate in the state of New York other than a tiny bit by the Canadian border up by Rouses Point which is the ex-D&H to Montreal plus a few miles in the Buffalo area.

Closest thing to CN in that area is CN 2-8-2 3254 which used to run at Steamtown in Scranton, PA until it was pulled from service a few years back. Now, Canadian Pacific did operate into Binghamton since they own the Delaware & Hudson but I believe CP has turned over most if not all CP trackage to Norfolk Southern. I'm not sure what the exact arrangement and number of scheduled trains are these days though.

I recall hearing most traffic seems to run at night in that area - of what traffic there is since it is not the busiest area. If it's train action you want CSXT's ex-NYC to the north thru Syracuse would be a much better bet for daytime action. And to help you out in Binghamton proper should you go there:

Good luck with your trip and finding trains!

Thanks for the info.  I wasn't sure about the CN connection,  thanks for clearing that up.

Thank you  for the feedback.  I was corrected earlier about the CN/CP.  I knew it wasoneor the other, but I didn't know that NS took over that line to Binghamton.
