Looking for some clarification on the correct washer for a 1939 truck part. According to a drawing I found the part number is 418-44. The description shows that it is a brass washer. I did a Google search and found a few different dealers that said that they had them in stock. I placed an order with one (picture shows what they had in stock), but I received black steel washers instead. Before I go back to the dealer, what is the correct washer? Are there no brass washer available and the steel is the replacement? I have seen black and chrome washers used on the truck stud.

Another subject, what is the correct clip to be used on the stud? I have some the TS-70 truck clips in black and chrome. Which combination should I use? Brass washer with black or chrome clip? Black washer with black or chrome clip? Chrome washer with black or chrome clip?

My guess is that the black combination went into sealed cars, like a caboose or tender that the stud washer clip combination would not be seen. While the chrome combination was used on cars that stud washer clip combination would be seen, like a tank car. Just a guess, but I bet someone on here knows the correct answer. Thanks,

Michael
