After canceling the Dec 2013 Casey Jones Chapter TCA Train show due to the ice storm that never occurred our December 2014 show took place yesterday without a hitch.

Here are a few pictures.

The calm before the show

We elected new officers during this show. To start, we recognized two of our out going officers for their years of hard work and dedicated service to our TCA Chapter.

Frank Crawford was recognized for holding the position of secretary for many years and was presented a plaque for his service to the chapter.

Zee Smith, our out going president was also recognized for 20 years of service to the Casey Jones Chapter. Zee has held every elected position in our chapter, even serving in two positions at times when no one else would serve. Zee was home ill and could not attend the show. We called him at home and presented him with his plaque.

We had many table full of trains.

John and Bill Autrey had treasures from October York to display and plenty of post war Lionel trains to sell.

Here is a 6817 Scraper. The 394 beacon is  in the original box, with all original packing and the original price!

They also had a Geiger Counter made by Lionel. I remember using one of these back in my Army days, along with PRS 4 and PRS 7 mine detectors made by Lionel. Also Bill and John had The "Air, Land and Sea set brand new in the original box.

The Casey Jones High Railers set up our "Module Lite" layout - four curves, and four straight sections.

I will post a short video of the layout.

Chuck Campbell brought a layout with both Standard gauge track and O gauge track.

Our kids Club activities were well attended

The guys at the front door must have fallen asleep at the switch. Two individuals from Arkansas (as a rule we strictly prohibit anyone from Arkansas into our shows, especially those from Mountain Home) were discovered wandering about the tables. We determined that they were of questionable character, and definitely of ill repute!

These guys were ID'ed as none other than Alan Arnold AKA OGR Ad man,and his good friend Mike Burnside from Jonesboro,  Arkansas. Nep Malory can be seen behind them making sure they behave themselves.

Thanks Alan and Mike for traveling to Memphis to attend our show.

If anyone from OGR shows up at your train show you just have to get your picture taken with them!

Here is yours truly and Alan.

After the train show I had the honor of taking Alan, his wive and Mike out to the house to see my layout and then out to Millington, TN to see Bill Norvell's outstanding O gauge layout.

It was a long day with lots of trains, and lots of good friends.

Have a good week.

Richard

Wow!  Great show and video.  If I was at a show and Arnold and Lakeeta showed up, I would think that I was dreaming.  If you would have had advance notice, you could have sold admission tickets to the general public and hit your operating budget for next year.

Looks like a fun show.  Thanks for the report.

Passenger Train Collector,

Nope, Alan did not find any passenger trains, but he did find an Atlas O 50ft box car treasure.

Spence and Alex,

Thanks for your comments!

Art,

I had advance notice that he would be here, so I sent a BOLO out to all the chapter members.

Alan did bring a few copies of the current OGR, and I observed him signing at least one copy!

As far as Lakeeta goes, well all I can say is Alan probably paid a terrible price for bringing her along - They were headed to the Wolf Chase Mall after the last layout tour!

We really had a great time.

Take care,

Richard

Hey guys....LaKeeta and I, and I know Mike too, enjoyed the meet and the wonderful tour of Richard and Bill's layouts.  Richard took the time to drive us all over west Tennessee so that we could see these fine layouts.  I will be posting pictures of the layouts in a separate thread since I think they deserve special notice.

There were some great deals on the tables and the meet was well attended.  I picked up an Atlas double door 60' auto parts boxcar brand new in the box for $20.00.  Similar prices were to be had at the same table!  Lots of happy folks there shopping.

Richard was right...once we finished the tour of Bill's layout, it was time to let LaKeeta shop.....and so at around 10P.M. when she was done, we headed back to Jonesboro which was a hour and a half drive.

By the way...Memphis is THE place for BarBQ and we have tried them all...BUT...the best I have ever had is at "The BarBQ Shop" on Madison Street.  If you have a Krogers Food Store in your town, you can pick up their sauce...it is called "The Dancing Pigs BarBQ Sauce".....  We don't go anywhere else when we are in town!!

Thanks so much Richard for being such a wonderful host...I owe you one Buddy!!

Alan

Wow! She really did make you pay!

I went home, had a beer, and thought I would watch a little football. I laid back in the recliner, and fell right to sleep.

The three of you must have been worn out by the time you made it back to Mikes house.

I will have to find a way for Bill to see your post of his layout pictures. He does not mess with computers anymore.

Take care, and I will talk to you soon!

Richard
