@Official Lionel Trains, @Conrail6358, @Dave Olson, @Berwyns Toys and Trains, @MrMuffin'sTrains
Lionel has offered the following in their 2024 Catalog on page 101:
Burlington (CB&Q) #3007 (2445030, MSRP ~ $250). This steam locomotive is a 2-4-2 Columbian wheel arrangement.
Per the Steam Roster Summary on the BRHS website, the CB&Q (i.e., Burlington Route) only had one 2-4-2 staem locomotive.
In the book "Steam Locomotives of the Burlington Route" (B. Corbin & W. Kerka), page 84 includes information and a black & white photo of the prototype. It was built in 1895 with the road number #590. It did not stay in the 2-4-2 configuration for very long. In 1905, it was rebuilt into a 4-4-2 Atlantic wheel arrangement with several other assigned road numbers during its service life.
Because #3007 is incorrect for CB&Q's 2-4-2 locomotive and also because Lionel has already offered CB&Q #3007 on their CB&Q LionChief Hudson (6-82967), this 2-4-2 model will be better accepted by CB&Q fans with the prototypical road #590.
The models colors should be black with silver (firebox & smoke box), red (cab roof), gold lettering (for #590 under cab windows), and Burlington Route herald on the tender (in red, black, & gold).
Lionel, thank you for offering this unique CB&Q model !!!
