Changing My Engine Yard and Switches

Thanks but for now I want to make sure it will work before I go buying stuff. Any guidance on this? 

SCARM is pretty good at producing realistic results, so your plan should work.  However, why bother with the cost of a crossing.  Just swap the right hand and left hand switches coming off your inner lines and the resulting track will go in the same direction for about the same usable distance.  Of course, if you are using the crossing to achieve a desired scenic effect, then just ignore my suggestion.

I'll keep that suggestion in mind. I do like the idea of using the crossing adding something different to the layout.
