I usually buy some train items for myself every year as my wife and I usually buy our own gifts for each other save for something small our son gets for each of us.   I'm very much after my own dad, always spending extra to get my wife something nice while I get practical items like clothing etc.   This year was no different until my wife gives me a card with $500 inside and the inscription "go buy yourself some trains"!  Pretty cool if you ask me.

Seeing as how I'll be going to the Big E show for the first time in a few weeks, I'm pretty sure where I'm going to spend the money.

I always treat myself to a train for Christmas since it would be impossible for family to possibly know what I already have or don't have. I have two candidate items for this year, in two different scales, but have not purchased either one yet. May make a decision and push the button tomorrow.

I hope Santa was good to the rest of you fine train-loving folks!

I have been looking for MTH 70' UP streamlined passenger cars from the uncataloged Dealer Appreciation Program.  Just in time for Christmas I  found  two car vista dome  sleeper  set # 20-66147.   Now if I can just find MTH 2 car set # 20-69147 or 5 car set # 20-65147...……………………………………………………………..

Merry Christmas to all.

Bob

Wish the baggage car was lighted.

Greg...

Are those K-Line cars?  Could you snap and post a few photos of them?  I may be looking for some myself.

As for the baggage car, $20 and 1 hour or so and you can have it beautifully lighted.

No, this is a Lionel Lionchief starter set.  Considering the price the baggage car should have come lighted.  The extra Polar Express baggage cars I have purchased for less are all factory lighted.

Greg, thanks for the explanation--it's a handsome set for sure.  Hard to understand how Lionel and the others figure out what sets get what features.

I bought a 2352 Pennsylvania EP-5 Electric in Ex condition on Ebay. It was pretty reasonably priced and runs like a champ. Just put her on the track for the first time this morning.

I also got the revised version of Ron Hollander’s “All Aboard” book on Lionel history plus an old book on historical logging railroads in the Northwest.

Really nice Christmas treats! The loco fills a hole in my collection, too.

Merry Christmas to all!

i got a lot of greenbacks to spend at the the big E in january the annual Railroad Hobby Show occupies four buildings at the Eastern States Exposition, draws 25,000 people, and is one of the most respected railroad shows in the country. Twice, the Railroad Hobby Show has received the Walther’s Showmanship Award in recognition of our efforts to promote interest in railroads and model railroads in the United States. IF your into trains , this is a great show , top of the heap teachman

Train Stuff:

I got three track cleaning erasers, a MIB AHM boxcar, a pair of NOS AHM coupler pins,  Greenberg's Marx Vol. II, and a really nice Marx grade crossing gate with most of its original box.

The older son got a K-Line NYC 18" observation car, a pictorial history of the NYC, and two sets of LEGO Power Functions motors/controls for converting his 9v trains.

The younger son got the Hot Chocolate car for his PolEx and the entire series Hell on Wheels on DVD.

A very Merry Christmas to all, and a Blessed New Year!

Pretty good train holiday.

For myself I got the Christmas 2816 mth hopper, and for Christmas from my wife I ordered the Reading Company 2816, and a wind up Lionel handcar.

My littlest two kids did great with the boy getting a PE set and my girl getting the pet shop set that she  absolutely loves.

The big kid turned 13 today.  He has a pretty extensive PE collection, so he got a new car for his Polar express.  Know we have two PE’s in the house, maybe I should get one for myself!!
