So I got my complete overhaul done in my Kline GS-4. New ERR cruise commander, new MTH smoke unit, Super Chuffer 2 and Chuff Generator installed. I learned a lot. So I got the CG set to four chuffs and every so often at slow speed the sound unit throws out a random chuff. The red light seems to be going off correctly but some random chuff out of no where. Any ideas? Holy smoke this thing smokes like crazy! I think I might need to dial it down with the bridge rectifier during idle but wanted to see it full strength first.

The RS4 boards used to toss in an initial chuff when you started moving, could be that the board is somehow being fooled into thinking you're starting moving. I do have to say, there might be something a bit different there as I don't recall ever seeing that with RS4 and the Super-Chuffer. Of course, if the Chuff-Generator isn't blinking it's light, and the smoke unit isn't doing a chuff, it's not coming from the generated chuffs, so the RS board behavior is my likely suspect. Other than that, a loose wire?
Yeah it so random and at very low speed. It’s not really bothering me and is not happening that often. It’s also a much softer random chuff too. But checked, all the connections and the light on CG and the puff of smoke does not happen when it happens. Going to set at 2 chuff per revolution to see if it still happens. BTW, is it best to set the chuff by spinning the flywheel by hand or giving it light throttle on the legacy remote?
I wonder if at really low speed the RS board is thinking you are starting up and tosses in it's startup chuff. I don't know that I've ever seen that, but maybe I just didn't notice.
You most certainly want to set the chuff by hand, you'll never get it accurate at 1/4 driver rotation running it. Also, I apply light friction with a finger to the flywheel so it doesn't drift back and toss in another tach pulse. Sometimes it takes several times to get an accurate chuff rate.
