Has anyone noticed the new sounds this engine makes when it is running around the layout....on top of the regular sounds, we have strange sounds coming out of this engine. Anyone else also notice these new sounds?

I guess nobody has noticed the new sounds out of the Lionel diesel engines. This is all from the sound board. It makes rumbling sounds when going straight down a track and also makes strange sounds going around corners. It almost sounds like the wrong sound board is in my engine. It almost sounds like a steam engine sounds that I hear....... anyway I guess I will just put up with it.....
A video would help.

If you determine the sound set is incorrect or defective you should not put up with it. Contact Lionel or return it to the vendor to get a refund.
These are very expensive models you paid good money for, you should expect good quality control
I guess the bottom line is, I would like to hear another one of these engines run and compare the sounds.
My last engine I bought from Lionel, which was the BNSF oil train in 2019 had very good sounds, the same sounds they have had for years. Maybe lionel put a updated sound board in this new Veterens CN train engine.
I suspect it's the "squeaking and groaning sounds" that Lionel has gotten carried away with over the last few years. More is not always better, or realistic.
It happens far too often , and IMO has become repetitive.
The " hee haw sound" is especially annoying.
The thing is. Outside of the occasional high pitched flange squeal. In my experience ,the prototype simply doesn't make all of this junkyard racket.
This includes steamers. I viewed NKP 765 drifting by at 50 mph and it was nearly silent outside of some steam hiss.
Ericstrains has video of his custom run es44 on youtube you can use for comparison.
Well put. Thanks.
