My Lionel Legacy Heavy Mikado stopped smoking and gives the 3 blinks of the cab light. I tried the compressor, but it still won't smoke.
The whistle smoke is working.
The main fan motor is not turning.
When I blow the whistle, I get voltage across the whistle motor, but when I hit the 9 key, I don't get voltage across the stack motor.
Any ideas?

Most likely the fan motor.
I thought it might be, but shouldn't I still get voltage when i try to turn the motor on?
I had the engine apart, and I was able to see where the bracket screws in on both sides, but once the screws are out, how do I remove the smoke unit?
Also, going by the photos I have seen, the impeller appears to be sunken, and it looks like you need to pry it out. Has anybody tried this, and if so, how difficult is it?
New fan motor came today. Just put it in, and smokes like crazy after one push of the button. The old motor took three pushes.
Maybe the original one was never working correctly in the first place.
