Coal Dump Car

Just bought a Williams Lehigh and New England coal dump car and was trying to find out if LNE actually had such cars or whether it was poetic license on the part of Williams. When I search all I find are sites for the model car and nothing about a prototype if there was one. Thanks.

Don't know about Williams but Lionel made a nice metal dump car for years. I have seen real ones on Southern Pacific and Milwaukee Road. Lionel's version is very close to those cars. I think SP used them for gravel. The Lionel ones are nice working and cheap. Don
