All you experts out there....I need to replace a missing grid walkway on my MTH Premier Southern Crescent. MTH is sending me the part which is black in color( I need to paint myself).   These have a tendency to come off....what glue would you guys suggest and what type/kind paint and color (other than the obvious white stripe) would you say this engine is; it appears to be an apple green of some sorts...how best to match this up?

It's a very specific Southern Rwy green. It is available from Weaver in their

Scalecoat line; try Floquil (now discontinued), also. "Model Master" acrylic, maybe?

You don't need much, and, especially with the acrylic, a brush will do just fine.

For such a small area, you might try some of the low-priced acrylics at Hobby Lobby;

buck or so a bottle. A 90% match in that small and often shadowed area would be

fine. Anyway, real locomotives are anything but pristine creatures.

Glue: my go-to glue is Walther's Goo, but any modern "sticky" glue or silicone will do;

CA (Super Glue), also - Gorilla CA claims to be more resistant to sharp blows.

Oh - one more thing: wash (soap) and prime the piece if it is bare brass; just plain

old 99-cent gray primer.
