Somewhere back around the middle of Nov I posted about problems I was having with apparent defective switches. One of the switches would only work from the curve position to straight. With help here, the judgment was that the unit was defective. So, I ordered another unit and it worked fine (still does). Then another one would not take a program. So, I switched it with the facing one and it worked in the new position. But the one that was working acted the same way in it's new position. I checked to make sure the outside rails were all connected through the blocks. I set up all four switches to operate on separate power. Just to make sure, I connected the terminal post wire directly to the outside rail of the switch. It made no difference. The program light blinks as it is supposed to, but the program does not "take". I just sent another switch I had in that position to Lionel for a warranty fix. Probably going to be embarrassed when Lionel finds nothing wrong with it.
Am I overlooking something? This is driving me nuts. Looks like my Christmas layout will have to survive with a switch in dysfunctional mode. FWIW, my test engine runs good on all four blocks.
Enclosed is pic of the switches in position. Either switch works when in the lower position; neither works in the upper position.
