Can I control the TMCC ARC 6-14181 and/or the SC-2 6-22980 with my Legacy 990 system? And, if so, can I just plug the same serial cable I currently am using connecting my TMCC BASE1 to the ARC to the Legacy BASE2?

I can't speak for the ARC but I am using an SC-2 for accessories with my Legacy 990 system. You don't need any connection to base. Just read the manual and your all set. By the way if you are running LCS I would strongly recommend the new version of the SC-2. A way to identify the new version is it has green lettering on the PROG/RUN switch. It has worked perfectly with the LCS system. I can turn accessories on and off from my CAB2 or the ipad.
FWIW, I have the original SC-2 boxes, they work fine with LCS, at least the three that run my turntable work fine.
John, I had problems with the on/off not always working on the first try. The new SC-2 is flawless.
That's odd, I haven't seen that. Not sure why that would be a factor, the LCS uses the #990 command base to send the commands just like the CAB2 or CAB1L commands, there shouldn't be any difference in function.
You may be experiencing poor reception of the SC2, usually corrected by laying an earth ground near the boxes.
