Conventional vs MTH DCS

It should work in conventional after applying power and let it sit afor about ten seconds. Battery may be low or you may be lowering the track voltage too much trying to change direction. If you haven’t yet, try using the direction button rather than the transformer handle.

I'd replace the old battery with a BCR. This would eliminate the need for charging the battery.

I am on my way to the basement to try your suggestions.

So, I tried letting it idle for 10+ seconds and still stuck in ‘neutral’ position.  I took a battery out of a SW1 & it works!

Is this the BCR battery you referred to Bob?

Thats actually the battery. A BCR is a super capacitor that replaces the battery.

If you order a BCR you can put that battery back in the engine and apply power to it for a few hours and see if it will take a charge. That may allow you to run it until your BCR shows up. Or just leave it out.
